Indirect Procurement Operational Buyer

Position Summary

The Indirect Procurement Department is accountable for the supply management activities across all categories of Bass Pro indirect spend (e.g., Logistics, Marketing, IT, Facilities, etc.). To support this function, Procurement has selected a suite of software tools to support the company’s supply management activities. The Operational Buyers assist in the data analytics and administration required to support the various software modules as well as executing “spot buy” requirements for items not found in the curated assortment.

Position Responsibilities

  • Helps maintain the data feeds to the spend analytics module that tracks and classifies all indirect spend, and provides the first level of analysis on data accuracy and completeness

  • Helps maintain the sourcing module configuration, templates and user access to facilitate competitive bidding for goods / services, and assists in the analysis of the resulting submissions

  • Helps prepare, route and track contract documents, assists in uploading completed contracts and the corresponding metadata into the contract administration module, and produces reports on contract status for the entire Procurement organization

  • Helps ensure that the Procure-to-Pay (P2P) module is kept update to date including uploading vendor catalogs and item content as well as making sure that new suppliers are enabled to transact in the tool

  • Executes “spot buys” as needed to secure non-standard goods and services not included in the curated assortment

Position Requirements

  • Educational / Work Experience Requirements:

  • Requires Bachelor’s Degree in business, supply chain management or similar technical discipline and/or one to three years of procurement and/or finance experience

  • Should have rudimentary understanding of how contracts are structured to support business objectives

  • Should have a reasonable level of technical competency (especially in Microsoft Office) and a rudimentary knowledge of e-sourcing tools
