Position Summary: To prepare baked goods for Top of the Rock food and beverage outlets.

Essential Functions:

  • Possess a solid background in breads, pastries, cakes and sauces with the knowledge of cake decorating techniques.

  • Handle knives excellently and operate all kitchen equipment in a safe, efficient and effective manner.

  • Check quality of material and condition of equipment and devices used for baking

  • Guide and motivate pastry assistants and bakers to work more efficiently

  • Maintain a lean and orderly cooking station and adhere to health and safety standards

  • Be able to work with others well in a close environment with a learning attitude possessing speed and efficiency.

  • Be able to assume control of the kitchen in the absence of a Sous Chef or Lead Cook.

  • Be able to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.

  • Take an active role in the training of new cooks.

  • Duties will range from creative to redundant with large volume baking on a daily basis.

  • Perform other duties as required.

Education and/or Experience: Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Must be at least 18 years old, have a safe driving record and the ability to obtain a Missouri class E or Arkansas D with a “P” endorsement designated driver's license.

Other Skills and Abilities: The ability to work well with a team, to prioritize, a sense of urgency and a real concern for guest satisfaction.
